Tom Gronstal was born June 14, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa. In May 1969, he graduated from Kuemper High School, Carroll, Iowa. Tom went on to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and graduated in 1973.

Entering the banking world, Tom became employed in 1973-1975 with Central National Bank in Des Moines. In 1975, Tom became a State of Iowa employee in the Iowa Division of Banking and continued working there until 1978. From 1978 to the present time, Tom has been with the Carroll County State Bank in Carroll, Iowa. On February 4, 2002, the Iowa Division of Banking welcomed Tom back as their Superintendent of Banking.

Tom has served as a member of many organizations, such as:

1989 President of the Carroll Chamber of Commerce
1990 President of the Iowa Bankers Association
1994-1999 Mayor of the city of Carroll, Iowa
1999-2000 Served on the Governor’s Strategic Planning Council
1999-2001 Member of the Carroll Area Development Corporation
2005-2007 Treasurer of CSBS (Conference of State Bank Supervisors)
2007-2008 Secretary of CSBS (Conference of State Bank Supervisors)
2008-2009 Vice Chairman of CSBS (Conference of State Bank Supervisors)
2009 Chairman-Elect of CSBS (Conference of State Bank Supervisors)

Tom and his wife Joan have had the delight of raising two daughters in Carroll, Iowa.
